UK government releases statement on Manchester attack, offers help

Through the Home Office, the government of the United Kingdom has issued a statement following the recent terror attack in Manchester. Home Secretary Amber Rudd expressed the government’s condolences to all the innocent victims who have been affected by the attack, calling it “barbaric” and “horrific.”
“My thoughts and prayers go out to the families and the victims who have been affected, and I know the whole country will share that view,” the statement reads.
“All acts of terrorism are cowardly attacks on innocent people but this attack stands out for its appalling, sickening cowardice, deliberately targeting innocent, defenceless children and young people who should have been enjoying one of the most memorable nights of their lives.” The government also promised to heighten security measures across and outside the city as all concerned officials delve deeper into the details of the attack. “[We will] collect more information—to find out more –about this particular attack and the police and security services are working at speed to establish the complete picture.”
At the end of the message, Rudd encouraged the people of the United Kingdom to stand firm and counter fear with vigilance, kindness, and solidarity.
“There will be difficult days ahead. But the great city of Manchester has been affected by terrorism before. Its spirit was not bowed; its community continued.”
Moving forward

Immediately after the statement was released, the UK government set up various units to aid the affected citizen in locating their loved ones. The Greater Manchester Police website was updated to inform the public everything they need to know about the attack.
